As you know, we have had a few teething problems getting home based learning operational.
This has been a state wide issue, and we have fared better as a school than many others.
However, we have lost 2 – 3 days of focussed learning time while everyone got emails, acclimatised to this new approach of home based learning, organised to borrow a laptop, learned how to use new software, downloaded OneNote, organised for print materials to be sent….. Some students do not yet have a laptop or internet access at home, and we are working hard on this.
For these reasons for Years 7 – 10 only, I am extending the time for Weeks 1 and 2 work by a couple of days, to give some extra settling in time and ensure that all students are well established. There is also a public holiday on 4th May!
Week 1 work must be completed by 9am Wednesday 29th April, though teachers would appreciate earlier submission of work it it is ready. The next batch of emailed work will go out on Wednesday 29th April for submission by 9am Friday 8th May.
I hope that this will enable those who have experienced difficulty getting started, to catch up and develop a stronger foundation for subsequent weeks. For students who finish early, there is usually some extra reading they can undertake, or some teacher feedback they can work on. Teachers may be able to send additional work ideas, though their focus will be on helping students with difficulties catching up.
I thank you for your patience and the diligence with which you have all undertaken supervision of home based learning.
