Homestay is a valuable opportunity for international students to experience the Australian lifestyle and practise their English language skills in a real home setting. As a homestay host, they look after a student who is a long way from home, perhaps for the very first time. They assume the role of a caring parent and contribute to the positive memories, international students have of family like and of their studies at Holland Park State High School. Our most successful hosts form cultural links and friendships with students and their families all over the world.

Living with an Australia host family is a great way to experience Australia's fantastic lifestyle. By living in a safe, caring and supportive home environment, you can immerse yourself in your studies, enjoy being part of a community and develop lasting friendships with your homestay family.

Our school's Homestay Coordinator is responsible for selecting homestay families, and some may have children at the school you will attend. Families are visited and interviewed by the Homestay Coordinator to ensure they are suitable homestay hosts. They are chosen for their friendliness, availability and the care and respect they have for international students; not because of the size or type of house they live in.
