At Holland Park State High School, we recognise the importance of outdoor activity, physical movement, and positive social interaction. Regular participation in sport not only supports students' physical health but also enhances mental wellbeing and strengthens social connections—foundational elements of a balanced, enriching, and successful schooling experience. Throughout the year, students engage in three trimesters of sport: Summer, Winter, and an Intra-school season.
For our Junior Years students (Years 7 and 8), sport takes place on Tuesday afternoons during Period 4. For our Middle Years students (Years 9 and 10), the program occurs on Wednesday afternoons during Period 4. During these sessions, students may participate in interschool competitions or recreational activities. Students are required to wear their School Sports Uniform for the entire day to ensure they are fully prepared for afternoon activities.
Commencing in 2026, the Sport Program for our Senior Years students (Years 11 and 12) will transition to a revised model designed to support their academic commitments and future pathway planning. Interschool and recreational sport will no longer be scheduled during Period 4 on Wednesdays. Instead, senior students will take part in the Holland Park State High School Enrichment Program, which offers a suite of specialised academic, vocational, and co-curricular opportunities that foster meaningful skill development and preparation for post-school pathways.
To ensure Senior Years students continue to have opportunities to represent the school in sport, Gala Days will remain an integral part of the program. These full-day events involve selected Year 11 and 12 teams competing against schools within the South District.
