The BYOD program is offered to all students in Years 7-12 and allows students to bring a privately-owned laptop to school every day for use in class.

Our BYOD program assists students to improve their learning outcomes in a contemporary educational setting and recognizes the demand for seamless movement between school and home.  By supporting students to become responsible digital citizens, student outcomes are enhanced as well as the skills and experiences that will prepare them for their future studies and careers.

Microsoft Intune

Access to school's network is managed through Microsoft Intune - a DETE approved BYOD on-boarding system.  Enrolling your child's device via Intune involves installing an authentication certificate that grants secure connection to the school BYOD network. Once onboarded the student will have access to filtered internet, network storage/sharing and printing facilities.

Intune does NOT allow staff to:

  • see personal information,
  • monitor what happens on the device,
  • track or locate the device,
  • see information on installed personal applications (other than school applications),
  • uninstall applications, including personal ones.

Joining the BYOD Program

HPSHS requires the following steps are completed prior to gaining network access.

  • Read and understand the BYOD Student Charter  and the School's Student Code of Conduct.
  • Return the signed Short Term Loan and Responsible Use Agreements (you may have already submitted a copy of the BYOD Agreement as part of the enrolment pack) to Admin or the I.T. Support desk (located in the Library).
  • Pay the yearly BYOD fee - $75
  • Purchase a suitable device as per BYOD device selection below
  • Onboard the laptop. This step can now be performed at home prior to starting school by following the guides to the right hand side.

NOTE: If you have trouble or don't feel comfortable with this step, I.T. staff will still check-in with every student upon starting school.

BYOD Device Selection

It is important that families select a suitable device that meets their child's educational needs. To assist your decision please refer to the BYOD Device Selection document which includes minimum specifications as well as other information/considerations.

You may also like to view our BYOD portal site (partnered with JB-HiFi - School Code: HPSHSBYOD2024). As a convenience to parents, a selection of appropriate laptops, accessories and extended warranty options have been made available for purchase through the portal.

Purchasing from this site it NOT mandatory, however it is recommended that parents consider the option - particularly the cost-effective Accidental Damage Protection (ADP) offers available.

I.T. Support Help Desk

I.T. support is available for students during the following times.

  • Morning Tea break - 11:20am to 11:50am,
  • Lunch break - 1:00pm to 1:50pm,
  • After school - 3:00pm to 3:30pm,
  • Or during class if approved by teacher.

If you wish to seek further clarification on any of the above information, please email StudentITSupport@hollandparkshs.eq.edu.au.
