Since graduating in 2011, our Female School Captain, Rebecca Bromwich has been busy travelling the world and studying to be a doctor. We caught up with Bec to see what else she has been up to since leaving Holland Park and some memorable moments about the school.

What have you done since graduating?

After graduating I took a gap year and lived in Nepal for a few months where I volunteered as a teacher aide. Over the following three years, I completed a Bachelor of Biomedical Science. This year I’ve been travelling, working and preparing for entry to medical school which I will be starting in 2017.

Do you think your time at Holland Park helped you to pursue this? The quality of teaching at Holland Park is outstanding. My teachers went above and beyond their duties and were incredibly knowledgeable and supportive. The science subjects that I studied in Year 11 and 12 were of a very high standard and were particularly helpful during my university degree.

Do you still live locally?I still live locally but will soon be moving away for medical school.

Did you enjoy your time at Holland Park?I enjoyed my time at Holland Park immensely. I made many wonderful friends and was offered a broad range of opportunities. Particular highlights were the volleyball program, Drama Club, Leo Club and the Instrumental Music Program.

Do you still remember your favourite teacher?

Picking a single favourite teacher is too difficult because they were all wonderful, caring and dedicated people.

What was your most memorable moment as a student?

Some of my greatest memories of school were made during the Schools Cup Volleyball trips to Melbourne. We always had a fantastic time playing lots of volleyball, hanging out and eating our way through St Kilda.

What was your funniest moment as a student? While there were many funny moments when I was at school, the best ones were made during rehearsals for group drama performances in the Talent Quest. I can’t remember and probably shouldn’t confess the specific details but they were certainly good times.

Are you still friends with anybody you met at Holland Park?

I made some lovely friends at Holland Park and we still get together now.
