Since graduating in 2012, our Female
School Captain, Katya Richardson has completed a degree in Communication and
the University of Queensland and is about to start work with the Defence Force.
We caught up with Katya to see what else she has been up to since leaving
Holland Park SHS and some memorable moments about the school.
What have you done since graduating?
Since graduating I completed a Communications degree majoring in public
relations at the University of Queensland, have completed two PR internships at
Network TEN and P4 Group and am waiting to start my graduate position in the
Air Force next year.
Do you think your time at Holland Park helped you to pursue
this?
Being selected as a School Captain and having to take up a leadership position
helped me decide to do PR at University. It also really helped me during the
recruitment process for the defence force, as it is an officer role.
Did you enjoy your time at Holland Park SHS?
Yes. It was a small school which meant it had a very close knit community.
Who was your favourite teacher?
Mr Keane, Mrs Ilott and Mr Habermehl. All three teachers pushed their students
to do their very best and put so much effort into their jobs, more effort than
they had to. They really wanted their students to do their very best and would
often meet with students before and after school to help them when needed.
Are you still friends with anybody you met at Holland Park?
I still have the same close group of
friends from high school and I know many others are the same. Because it was a
small local school, many of the students lived close to each other and we still
do.
Do you feel that Holland Park has changed much since you
graduated?
I personally haven’t been there since graduating but I know people who have and
they say it’s changed a lot.
